NEW YORK -- An exhibit featuring the works of Filipino master comics artist Francisco V. Coching will be showcased at the Philippine Center in New York from Oct. 26 to Nov. 26.

Coching, a popular Filipino novelist and comics illustrator,?wrote and illustrated 55 novels, 51 of which were adapted into movies. ?He was a popular "komiks" personality from 1930 to 1970 and popularized ?many characters that Filipinos are familiar with such as ?Hagibis, Barbaro, El Indio, Satur, Lapu Lapu,?Pedro Penduko, Movie Fan, Maldita, Talipandas, Condenado, and Dimasalang, among others.

Coching had received from Malacanang the Presidential Merit Award and the?Cultural Center of the Philippines Gawad ?CCP Para Sa Sining for Visual Arts. He continues to connect today, as he has connected and communicated with millions of Filipinos as far back as 1934, with his illustrated comics and novels. ??
